Process

How long does it take to get a website built?

A week for one page, two to three for five to seven. What happens in that time, and why projects really run late.

A long, empty corridor with windows onto the outside.

One page: a week. Five to seven pages: two to three weeks. That is the time from the moment the text and photos exist — and that last part is almost always what it is really waiting on.

What happens in that week

  1. An intro call (30 minutes). What you do, who for, and what the site has to bring in. No sales pitch.
  2. A free preview. You see a design of your new homepage before you pay anything.
  3. Building. I turn the design into code and put your text and photos into it.
  4. One round of revisions. You look, I adjust.
  5. Live. Domain, hosting, SSL, Google Search Console. Plus a fifteen-minute video showing you how to edit text yourself.

Business is five to seven pages and two rounds of revisions, which is why it is two to three weeks.

Why projects run late (and how to stop it)

Not the building. The waiting.

  • Text. By far the biggest delay. Have it ready before we start, or have it written (€ 250 per page) and the problem disappears.
  • Photos. Pick them now. Good phone photos are fine; a stock photo of a handshake is not.
  • Decision makers. If three people have to approve, every round takes as long as the slowest calendar.
  • Access. Who manages your domain name? That answer sometimes takes a week longer than the whole site.

Can it be faster?

Usually, if the text is ready and there is one decision maker. But I will not promise a date I cannot make, and I do not take on work I cannot do well. If it does not fit, I say so straight away.

What you can expect from me during the project

A reply within 24 hours, to every message. You talk to the person building it, not a project manager passing it on. That is not a service extra; it is the entire idea of a studio of one.

The four steps are set out on the process page. Want a date? Ask for a quote and you will hear within a day what is realistic.
